Interview with Krupa Thakker
What do you do for Druces LLP?
I am an associate solicitor in the Private Wealth team at Druces LLP. I act for a wide range of clients from individuals and families both domestic and international. My breadth of private client work includes, but is not limited to, wills and estate planning, probate and estate administration, trust administration and Court of Protection work. I also have a keen focus on International Wealth and fiduciary matters. This involves advising clients on pre-arrival planning, departure planning, pre-domicile planning and offshore trust advisory work for resident non-domiciled clients and clients planning to move to the UK. Recently, I have also been involved with HMRC investigation work for clients, many of which are UK resident non-domiciled. This involves income tax investigations, large debt management negotiations, and facilitating disclosures under the worldwide disclosure facility.
What do you love most about your role?
I love being able to meet such a wide variety of people on a day to day basis. I have a wonderful team that I enjoy working with and also have an exciting mix of fascinating clients so there is truly never a dull moment in any day! I consider myself very lucky that as part of my role, I am able to get to know my clients and their families and build ongoing relationships with them as their trusted advisor over time.
What has been your greatest achievement?
I recently hosted the first 'Druces in Discussion' event in celebration of the Hindu festival of Holi. Aside from the celebration itself, I formed part of a panel of experts discussing India as a developing economy. I received some wonderful feedback about the event and it was amazing to look around and see the start of a community of people building, all of whom are interested in meaningful discussion and the celebration of different cultures.
Why did you join PCD Club?
It is a great platform to meet like minded people in the private client community. It also helps that the events are always enjoyable as well as being a great place to meet people!
On a weekend, I am most likely found…
catching up with family after a busy work week, out for brunch or dinner with friends, or out and about with my husband and our four year old shih-tzu, Cookie Monster!
