An Interview With Martin Hall

What do you do for Peregrine?

I joined Peregrine in August 2019 and I'm responsible for the day to day operations of the firm, managing client relationship and seeking opportunities to develop new business. I also host our very own podcast, The Front Line podcast which was set up in 2020.

What do you love most about your role?

I'm part of a great team and enjoy working with them to achieve our common goal of providing excellent client service to our clients. I also enjoy helping develop the talent within my team - as I mentioned, I've only been at the company for 17 months but I was blessed to walk into an amazing team.

How has your business adapted in light of COVID-19?

Like most businesses, the first couple of months were very focused on assessing the risks and managing them. After that, we have tried to carry on as business as usual. Being able to work remotely straightaway was such a blessing as we were able to service our clients without a lot of disruption.

What has been your greatest achievement? Personal or professional.

I'm generally not one for really reflecting backwards on my achievements so while sounding cheesy, the greatest achievement will be the next progress I make, whether that's developing the business with the team or achieving a goal in my personal life around my hobbies, for example.

Why did you join PCD?

Simply for the networking opportunities PCD provides. We find that PCD has a personal element to it because they match you with the types of people you want to do business with, whereas a lot of other networks place you with those in the same industry which while it can be helpful, it doesn't always result in a productive networking session.

Have you attended a PCD webinar? What did you think?

Yes, I've attended a number of the events in person and since Covid-19, I've attended a few of the webinars. In November [2020] I was invited to sit on one of the panel webinars which was a new experience for me but David made me feel comfortable and relaxed about it.

On a weekend, I am most likely found...

Either riding my bike or working on my own personal projects. I have my own podcast (outside of Peregrine's podcast) and I'm also Chairman of the Island's leading cycling club.
