Andy is an experienced tax adviser and a Barrister after being called to the bar of England and Wales in October 2019. Andy's clients extend across all types of sectors, covering most areas of tax for high net worth and entrepreneurial clients.
Andy trained with Ernst & Young in London before moving to the North West in 2005. Prior to starting ETC, he worked with Grant Thornton in Manchester. Andy qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2003 and, shortly after, became a member of STEP.
Steven Appleton - Partner - Head of Private, Brabners, Manchester. Steven is an experienced Private Client lawyer who acts for HNW clients in relation to their personal succession planning. He often deals with complex family situations and has spent his career identifying the tools with which to address his clients' needs. One of these tools, and for which he has a particular passion, is philanthropy.
He is the co-founder and co-chair of The Philanthropy Network (which helps professionals promote altruistic projects among their clients) and a member of STEP's Philanthropic Advisors Special Interest Group. He is also the current chair of Manchester Law Society's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and former chair of their Private Client Committee.
Ruth McCarthy - Co-Founder and Managing Director, SPI Capital, London. Ruth is a leading real estate lawyer and co-founder of spi capital, a real estate consultancy providing strategic advice and support to UK residential property investors who want to accelerate their progress, maximise their returns and avoid expensive mistakes.
Simeon Livesey - Director, Cazenove Capital, Manchester. Simeon has worked in UK financial services since graduating in 2004. He is a Portfolio Director and joined Cazenove Capital Manchester in October 2020 as part of their regional office expansion. He originally trained as a Private Banker and spent seven years with Coutts & Co structuring lending solutions for clients before moving to UBS to provide investment advice to leading entrepreneurs and business owners across the North West.
Simeon is passionate about philanthropy and is a Trustee of Manchester Youth Zone – a large children’s charity working to improve the life chances of young people in north Manchester.
Elspeth Kinder - Partner - JMW Solicitors LLP, Manchester. Partner and joint Head of Family Law at JMW, Elspeth is an incredibly sought after lawyer, owing to her pragmatic approach to every case. Instructed by a variety of clients, she is considered a knowledgeable authority on divorce, pre and postnuptial agreements, complex matrimonial finance work involving on and offshore assets; as well as complicated proceedings regarding arrangements for children.
Elspeth is also frequently contacted for her insights by legal and non-law publications alike and has shared her expertise with a variety of print and online media channels aimed at HNW individuals, ranging from podcast contributions, “The Times” and the “Family Law Journal” to name but a few.
